Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications (Remote)

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) is looking for a Senior Manager to join our passionate Marketing/Communications team. The Senior Manager plays a key role in supporting a team of dedicated professionals working collaboratively across our organization. This person will work deeply on the communications needed for a national equity campaign that aims to transform the health care ecosystem to promote optimal health for historically marginalized populations, through coordinated and longitudinal cross-sector action. We're seeking someone with demonstrated expertise in social media, publications, writing, and management of external agencies. We expect that about 50% of this role would be dedicated to our upcoming equity campaign, and the other 50% would be dedicated to marketing writing and general MarComm team support. This position will be remote until IHI Management deems a return to our Boston office is safe.

Position Summary:

In concert with members of IHI's project and Marketing/Communications team as well as external partners, lead communications for a new equity initiative and write compelling, concise marketing content.

You're a good fit for this role if you can:

  • Lead the development of communication plans for major initiatives and oversee the enactment and improvement of those plans
  • Develop and execute creative ideas
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, staying on time and on budget
  • Write, edit, and proofread compelling op-eds, fact sheets, briefs, blog posts, bulletins, marketing emails, digital content, and other short form content
  • Synthesize and translate complicated material into clear and simple language for a variety of audiences
  • Make crisp and succinct presentations
  • Establish relevant success metrics, drive toward achieving the metrics, and oversee ongoing measurement against those metrics

  • Willingness to pitch in when necessary at all task levels
  • Ability to focus and produce in a remote environment

Position Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years' experience in a marketing or communications role required
  • Experience managing an external agency or vendor required
  • Experience communicating about diversity, equity, and inclusion preferred
  • Experience with HubSpot, Google Analytics, and content management systems/website authoring preferred
  • Proficiency with office systems and computers, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint requested
  • Must have a passion for IHI's mission and a mission-driven approach
